RTMA Outreach To Public Officials

While the RTMA has interacted with elected officials in the past, we believe it’s important to increase our efforts.  The RTMA has worked hard to inform our community that manufacturing is an important ingredient in our economy and provides meaningful careers.  We have had an impact.  However, it is necessary and useful to continue to educate our elected officials about our industry.

We do this by responding to legislative proposals, personal visits in Albany and in Washington, and inviting elected officials to speak to our members at monthly meetings.  In addition to these activities, one of our goals this year is to provide a plant tour to each of our state senators, assembly members, congressional representatives, and city and county elected leaders.

From our past experience with plant tours, we have found that the elected officials sincerely appreciate the opportunity to visit with our members and learn about our industry.  Many of these officials are totally unaware of the substance and employment levels of the tooling and machining industry.  We believe that helping our elected officials understand our industry is the key to enacting good public policies.  We need our elected officials to recognize that what is good for manufacturing is good for Greater Rochester.  If you would like to be involved in plant tours, please contact the RTMA at 585-292-3760.
